Spring Break Adventure Photojournalism/Filmmaking Camp!
Using the artifacts found in the museum! All hands on!
The SC Military Museum and Team Backpack Journalists is offering to 20 – 3rd grade and up, middle school students for a writing and photography camp at the SC Military History Museum on Bluff Road. The museum staff would host the students, and Backpack Journalist would oversee the instruction as described below.
We begin the week with writing and photography basics, and also bringing in iPads with Iographers in order to teach the students iMovie editing, and then they can produce short films of their experience. We will produce a twenty-page book for the museum and also for each student would! We hope that this book would be a foundation for potential field trips and social studies projects for all students adn their families.
THERE IS NO cost for the camp. OPTION: a $25 fee that covers a final book and shirt. This an option.
Times: 9 a.m. to 4 pm daily, Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m. to 12 pm on Friday.

Project outcome for the students: each student completes a SC Military History Museum short video story and written essay for a 20-page book that would be printed.
Agenda
Day 1- Writing basics, interview techniques, and photography basics – quick walk through of museum
Day 2 -In depth tour of the museum, established student teams, and determine topics to initiate the research for the story
Day 3 – Working among the artifacts in the museum, students write, photograph and storyboard their project
Day 4 – Storyboarding complete, IMOVIE instruction, with all students completing their projects by 4 pm
Day 5 – Local National Guard Staff, and other school district guests and parents, at 10 AM visit to review the completed show films or written projects/posters.
